Society has a choice. “We can either use AI with intentionality to make it an equalizing force within society, or we can use AI without intentionality, and it can become a force that exacerbates inequality, or both,” argues computational social scientist Siddharth Suri. His recommendations include intentionally targeting populations that are currently underserved by AI, building a planetary dashboard to measure who is being affected by the tech, and collaborating across industries and institutions to figure out AI’s effects on the workforce.
